Maher Sweid, managing partner of SWEID & SWEID has been named as one of UAE’s Real Estate Icons by Arabian Business
Founded in 2006, Sweid & Sweid is an award-winning, Dubai-based boutique real estate company targeting niche development, investment and build-to-suit opportunities. At the helm is the founder and managing partner Maher Sweid, who launched the company as soon as he’d graduated with honours from Columbia University, New York, with an MSc in real estate development.
In the subsequent 12 years since launch, Sweid & Sweid has gained an enviable reputation for delivering grade-A commercial and residential products, adopting a comprehensive approach to all phases of the development cycle – from sourcing opportunities to funding and execution. The company’s landmark development in Dubai’s Internet City, The Edge, which was launched in 2014 and is now home to computer giants Oracle, was sold to ENBD Real Estate Investment Trust in 2017 for AED280m. “This announcement clearly demonstrates our ability to deliver contemporary commercial buildings of the utmost quality within the exact parameters of what tenants are looking for. This unique skill has enabled us to deliver excellent returns for our investors,” said Maher Sweid at the time.
Sweid & Sweid’s latest venture is the Banyan Tree Residences, located on a large island centre overlooking The Emirates and Montgomerie golf courses in Dubai and is scheduled for completion in Q3 2019. The 32-storey single tower development encompasses 235 residences including one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, duplex apartments with private outdoor gardens and three full-floor penthouses crowning the building.
Set within a 110,000 sq ft gated community, the project offers a residents-only clubhouse and spa includes a state-of-the-art fitness centre, an authentic Banyan Tree spa experience, saunas, a squash court, and an expansive indoor children’s play area.
The project is very much in keeping with Maher Sweid’s passion for structure and design, the foundations for which he laid during his architecture degree at Syracuse University in New York. From there, he joined DEPA, one of the world’s premier interior contracting companies and a global top-five industry leader, honing his skills in all aspects of construction – from the drawing board to site management.
